    Curbar Edge

Curbar Edge is located on the east side of the Peak District a few minutes from the village of Curbar. It is quite expose so not advisable in the wind or wet seasons and it can get quite boggy in places. Parking is available at a national trust car park at the beginning of the route and some people park on the roads just outside it. Just bear in mind to bring cash as a lot of these national trust car parks don’t accept cards. Starting of by leaving the car park via the road and crossing to the opposite […]

    Broomhead Reservoir 10k

This run starts in the small Village of Ewden. There are several parking spots at the beginning of the run and along the road that runs parralel to More Hall Reservoir. If you end up parking down the road from the start it’s a nice easy jog to the beginning with little road traffic. The 10k route follows a mix of woodland paths, trails and unfortunately a bit of road. The roads aren’t too bad and for the most part are quiet but ofcourse you do get the occasional driver doing their best Lewis Hamilton impressions. There are plenty of […]

    Derwent 9k Run

This is my ‘bread and butter’ run. A nice easy run with few hills and little tough running. A stunning area to run round and very easy to extend your run either by taking one of the many up hill footpaths or running round the reservoir above the one I described below (which is pretty much all road/footpath and about double the length) Start of by parking in the lay-by just before the visitor centre (the lay-by is free and visitor centre is about £4). There is also a bus stop with frequent buses in to Sheffield which stops here […]

    Mam Tor Hilly 6.8k

This is a short but very challenging hilly run starting from near castleton. You can park at the start (there are some pay and display road side parking areas nearby but they only charge on weekends). You start of running on tarmacked roads but they quickly deteriorate like they been involved in some horrific earthquake. Taking a right turn up a steep grassy bank just before the first style you climb to a large opening with mam tor on your right. Your climb up until now has been quite mild with the most challenging part just about to happen! Climb […]
